Nigerian Military Intensifies Onslaught Against Terrorists and Oil Thieves

In a sustained effort to combat insecurity and economic sabotage, the Nigerian Armed Forces have ramped up their operations across the country, recording significant victories against terrorists, kidnappers, and oil thieves.
The Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye said between February 27 and March 6, 2025, troops neutralised 92 terrorists, arrested 111 suspects, and rescued 75 kidnapped victims.
The operations also led to the surrender of 101 insurgents, including women and children, while a key terrorist commander, Abba Alai, was eliminated in Borno State.
The crackdown on oil theft in the South-South prevented an estimated loss of ₦521.8 million, with troops destroying 87 illegal refining sites and recovering over 452,000 liters of stolen crude oil.
In the North-West and North-Central, joint task forces foiled multiple kidnapping attempts, apprehended criminal collaborators, and seized large caches of weapons and ammunition.
Airstrikes also targeted terrorist hideouts, dealing heavy blows to their operations.
The Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to protecting Nigerians, vowing to sustain the pressure on criminal elements and ensure peace and stability across the country.
