For years, African nations have grappled with security challenges that demand homegrown solutions.

From insurgency to transnational crime, the continent’s air forces play a crucial role in safeguarding borders and ensuring stability.

The success of this mission hinges on one critical factor—collaboration.

In recognition of this, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has assumed the Chairmanship of the Association of African Air Forces (AAAF), vowing to drive greater synergy in tackling Africa’s security threats.

Speaking at the African Air Chiefs’ Symposium in Zambia, he stressed that only through regional cooperation and strategic partnerships that African nations can build stronger airpower capabilities.

“Our collaboration is a powerful reminder of the importance of finding African solutions to African problems,” he declared, highlighting plans to enhance humanitarian and disaster response efforts, as well as solidify the Association’s operational framework.

Air Marshal Abubakar’s appointment further cements Nigeria’s leadership in regional airpower discussions.

In line with this, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is set to make history by hosting the African Air Forces Forum (AAF) for the second consecutive time. Slated for May 2025 in Lagos, the forum will explore cutting-edge aerospace technologies for national and regional security.

With this renewed commitment to cooperation and innovation, Africa’s air forces are taking a united stand, ensuring the continent’s skies remain secure and its future, protected.
