6,000 Nigerians to Be Trained as Fire Extinguisher Servicing Vendors in Nationwide Safety Initiative

In a groundbreaking move to enhance fire safety and boost employment, the Federal Government, through a Non-governmental Organisation, National fire extinguisher Control, (NFEC), is set to train 6,000 Nigerians as Fire Extinguisher Servicing Vendors (FESV).

This initiative, championed under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and spearheaded by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, aims to create job opportunities while improving fire safety compliance nationwide.

The programme seeks to curb the influx of fake fire extinguishers, enhance public awareness of fire prevention, and ensure that the right extinguisher types are used, particularly for high-risk vehicles like petroleum tankers.

Beyond employment creation, the initiative is expected to generate significant revenue through compliance enforcement and regulatory measures.

With plans already in motion, aspiring trainees will soon have access to registration portals, while stakeholders, fintech companies, and well-meaning individuals are encouraged to subsidise training costs for underprivileged youth.

This initiative stands as a game-changer in job creation, national safety, and economic development.
