The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) for a more effective criminal justice system.
The IGP hosted the Acting Comptroller-General of the NCS, Sylvester Ndidi, alongside Senior Officers of the service at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Discussions at the meeting, focused on improving crime prevention strategies and ensuring that correctional facilities serve as true centers of rehabilitation, rather than mere detention spaces.
The NCS boss highlighted ongoing reforms, including the development of a modern criminal database to track offenders and enhance record-keeping.
Responding, the IGP pledged the Police Force’s support in achieving these reforms, emphasising the need for synergy between law enforcement agencies.
In another development, the IGP welcomed officers of the ASP Course 22/2005, celebrating their 20 years of service urging them to uphold integrity, transparency, and professionalism in policing, reinforcing the Force’s dedication to justice and accountability.
Nigerians can expect stronger crime prevention measures and improved criminal justice administration with renewed cooperation between the Police and the Correctional Service.
