In preparation for a crucial summit of African regional economic communities (RECs), ECOWAS hosted a technical meeting of focal points and experts in Addis Ababa on February 9, 2025.
The meeting, chaired by ECOWAS Director of External Relations, Mr. Jerôme Boa, is aimed at refining technical documents outlining the RECs’ joint position on cooperation with the African Union.
Experts also reviewed key recommendations from the last RECs Chief Executives meeting in Accra and discussed funding strategies, including UN support for African-led peace missions.
The insights from this session will shape discussions at the upcoming Presidents and Chief Executives summit on February 14, set to take place alongside the 46th AU Council of Ministers meeting.
