The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has issued a strong warning to officers against human rights violations and misconduct, emphasising accountability and professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force.

Speaking during a virtual meeting with Senior Police Managers on Monday, February 10, 2025, the IGP condemned reported rights abuses and stressed that offenders would face severe consequences.

He also directed tactical squads to strictly adhere to dress codes, warning that operatives carrying rifles while in civilian attire would not be tolerated.

The IGP also banned the indiscriminate transfer of cases without proper approval, noting that such actions hinder justice.

He urged officers to uphold the Force’s integrity and avoid acts that could damage its reputation.

The meeting reaffirmed the Police Force’s commitment to ethical conduct and effective service delivery.
