In a show of solidarity, activists, advocates, and concerned citizens took to the streets of Abuja in a walk to raise awareness and reaffirm commitments to ending Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

The event, themed “Stepping Up the Pace”, emphasised the need to strengthen alliances and build a movement to eradicate FGM.

Participants carried banners and chanted messages against the harmful practice, which violates the fundamental rights of girls, including their right to health, life, and freedom from torture.

FGM remains a pressing human rights issue, and this walk serves as a call to action for governments, communities, and individuals to intensify efforts to protect girls and women.

As the world marks the International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM, campaigners stress the urgency of collaborative action to #Unite2EndFGM.
