Police Crack Down On Gunrunning Syndicate, Arrest 63 Suspects Nationwide
The Nigeria Police Force has intensified its crackdown on illegal firearms, leading to the arrest of 63 suspects and the recovery of 191 prohibited weapons with over 4,000 rounds of live ammunition.
In a major breakthrough, police operatives apprehended eight members of a gunrunning syndicate operating in Plateau State.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers uncovered a large cache of weapons hidden inside a vehicle doormat, recovering eight fabricated AK-47 rifles, four revolver guns, and over 1,100 rounds of AK-47 ammunition.
One Amos Sunday Gyang was arrested for possessing a semi-automatic pistol, he allegedly found hidden in a rented apartment.
Authorities warn that keeping unlicensed firearms, even if found, is a crime and must be reported immediately.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, reaffirmed the force’s commitment to national security, vowing to clamp down on illegal arms proliferation and ensure public safety.
