Troops of Operation HADIN KAI in the North-East have successfully conducted a series of clearance operations targeting the notorious Timbuktu Triangle, a stronghold of terrorist activity.
The operation, which began on January 16, 2025, aims to dismantle the terrorist presence in the area.
In a series of intense encounters, over 70 terrorist combatants were neutralised, including three high-ranking commanders: Talha, the Special Forces Commander; Mallam Umar, the Operations Commander; and Abu Yazeed, the Brigade Commander.
Despite the terrorists deploying various tactics, including improvised explosive devices, suicide bombers, and drones, the troops showcased resilience, thwarting their advances and eliminating threats effectively.
However, the operation came at a cost, with 22 gallant soldiers paying the ultimate price and several others wounded.
A statement by the Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, urged the media to refrain from publishing names of the fallen until their families are officially informed.
As the operation continues, the Defence Headquarters assured the public of updates on progress in the fight to restore peace to the region.
