Police Rescues Retired AIG’s Wife, Neutralises Kidnappers in Ogun State

The Ogun State Police Command in a daring and precise operation rescued wife of Retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police Hakeem Odumosu, Mrs. Odumosu, following her abduction on January 16, 2025, in Arepo, Ogun State.
The police launched a swift investigation after four masked gunmen forcibly abducted Mrs. Odumosu from her Lexus Jeep on the said date.
Acting on intelligence gathered through surveillance of nearby creeks, operatives tracked the kidnappers to a hideout in the swampy area of Ikorodu.
On January 23, 2025, during an early-morning raid, the kidnappers engaged the police in a gunfight where two suspects were neutralised, while others fled, abandoning their weapons and the N10 million ransom they had demanded.
Mrs. Odumosu was rescued unharmed and has been reunited with her family after a precautionary medical evaluation.
Recovered items included four AK-47 rifles, three locally made rifles, and assorted ammunition.
Reacting to this, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, commended the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, and his team for their bravery and swift action.
This operation underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to combating kidnapping and ensuring the safety of citizens a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said.
