In a decisive operation between January 20 and 21, 2025, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA delivered a significant blow to the notorious terrorist network led by Bello Turji in northwestern Nigeria.

The military neutralised Turji’s second-in-command, Aminu Kanawa, alongside several key commanders, including Abu Dan Shehu, Jabbi Dogo, and Basiru Yellow.

The offensive also inflicted critical injuries on Turji’s close allies, including his younger brother Dosso and loyalist Danbokolo.

Over 24 fleeing terrorists were eliminated in Sokoto’s Isa and Zamfara’s Shinkafi Local Government Areas.

Among the casualties was Suleiman, a top loyalist to the late terrorist Halilu Sububu, who died while attempting to reinforce Turji’s disarrayed camp.

The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, who gave this statistics, said this operation marks a severe setback to Turji’s network, notorious for terrorising communities in Zamfara and Sokoto States.

He vowed that the military will sustain its offensive to ensure safety and security for all citizens.
