In a significant breakthrough, two notorious terrorist leaders, Abu Radde and Umar Black, operating in Batsari and Safana Local Government Areas of Katsina State, surrendered to troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA on January 19, 2025.

The surrender follows sustained synchronised ground and air offensives in the North-West operational theatre, which left several terrorists dislodged from their enclaves with heavy casualties.

During the operations, troops recovered assorted weapons and ammunition and secured the release of 15 hostages held by the terrorists.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other notorious leaders, including Bello Turji.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, emphasised that the military remains resolute in eliminating threats and ensuring the safety of citizens, stating, “Terrorists must surrender or face elimination on the battlefield.”

He said the military continues its momentum, aiming to deny terrorists the capacity to terrorise communities and secure lasting peace in the region.
