The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga.
Rt. Hon. Onanuga, a second-term federal lawmaker representing Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State, was hailed as a distinguished legislator and entrepreneur.
Fondly known as “Ijaya,” she was born in Hammersmith, London, on December 2, 1965, and was first elected to the House in 2019, earning re-election in 2023.
A trailblazer, Onanuga chaired the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development before her elevation to Deputy Chief Whip in 2023.
The APC described her as a vibrant leader who left an indelible mark in legislative service.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, colleagues in the House of Representatives, and the people of Ogun State during this difficult time. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka said.
