FG Launches Major Reforms To Tackle Exam Malpractice

The Federal Government has unveiled bold reforms to combat examination malpractice and restore integrity to Nigeria’s education system.
At a high-level meeting convened by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, top officials from JAMB, NECO, WAEC, and Senior Secondary Education strategised on improving the quality and security of examinations nationwide.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Alausa reiterated government’s zero-tolerance for malpractice and announced plans to transition all exams to Computer-Based Testing (CBT) within three years.
He said a special committee will be inaugurated in January 2025 to address challenges like exam leakages, identity theft, and fraud.
Highlighting alarming malpractice trends, the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, condemned unethical practices, including leaked answers shared on WhatsApp and schools bribing officials.
She pledged strict measures to hold offenders accountable and ensure transparency.
“These reforms are vital to safeguarding our students’ future and rebuilding trust in our education system,” Dr. Alausa had emphasised.
With these initiatives, Nigeria is set to lead a new era of credible and secure examinations.
