The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has vowed to keep intensifying its mission to safeguard communities and dismantle drug networks nationwide.
The NDLEA made this pledge after its operatives dismantled two powerful cross-border drug syndicates in a sweeping crackdown, arresting six top leaders and seizing large quantities of cocaine and opioids valued in billions of Naira.
The operation, which spanned multiple states including Lagos, FCT, Kano, and Ondo, also led to the capture of a software engineer and a Chadian national involved in trafficking networks.
After months of intense intelligence gathering, NDLEA operatives recovered tons of illicit drugs hidden in vehicles and cargo, from tramadol in abandoned cars to cannabis concealed under empty noodle cartons.
The agency also intercepted a shipment of opioids mislabeled as pain relievers from India.
Reacting to these success stories, NDLEA’s Chairman, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised the agency’s coordinated efforts, highlighting the success as part of Nigeria’s ongoing “War Against Drug Abuse” campaign, which includes community sensitisation and advocacy among others.
