The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) are now ready for collection across Ondo State, signaling a key milestone in the ongoing voter registration efforts.

Following the completion of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) process and a thorough data cleanup, 89,777 new PVCs have been printed for eligible voters, including 58,708 new voters and 31,069 individuals who applied for transfers, updates, or replacements of damaged or lost cards.

INEC has set up 221 collection centers across the state to make the process as accessible as possible.

The cards will be distributed in two phases: first, at the ward level from Thursday, 17th October to Monday, 21st October 2024, in all 203 wards. From Wednesday, 23rd October to Tuesday, 29th October 2024, voters can collect their cards at INEC offices in the 18 Local Government Areas.

The collection period runs from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, including weekends, ensuring ample opportunity for voters to pick up their PVCs.

This collection window is critical, not only for those who recently registered, but also for voters who previously applied and are yet to collect their PVCs.

INEC however clarified that cards can only be collected in person, emphasising the importance of this personal civic responsibility hence no proxies will be allowed.

To streamline the process, INEC has made detailed information, including the addresses of collection centers, available on their website and social media platforms. Furthermore, the full register of new voters has been uploaded online to help individuals easily locate their names and designated collection centers.

With the general elections fast approaching, INEC’s initiative is a vital step in ensuring that every registered voter in Ondo State can participate in the democratic process. This is a critical moment for citizens to make their voices heard by securing their PVCs, as every vote counts in shaping the future of the state and the nation.

The National Commissioner and Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, called on all registered voters in Ondo State to take advantage of this opportunity and collect their PVCs within the approved dates
