The All Progressives Congress, APC, extends its heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Borno State, particularly those who have been displaced or lost their livelihoods owing to the catastrophic flooding triggered by the overflow of the Alau Dam.

A statement by the National Publicity Secretary, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Barrister Felix Morka, said the party is profoundly moved by the anguish and hardship the unprecedented disaster has inflicted upon the people of Maiduguri and surrounding areas. Homes, farmlands, businesses, public buildings, and even the historic palace of the Shehu of Borno have been ravaged by the floodwaters.

According to the statement, in response to the tragedy, President Bola Tinubu, had swiftly sent the Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, to Maiduguri for an on-the-ground assessment where the Vice President directed federal emergency services to work in close collaboration with the State government to ensure the immediate evacuation of affected residents and to provide all necessary support during this critical time.

The party called on all relevant agencies, both at the federal and state levels, to leave no stone unturned in addressing the humanitarian challenges posed by this disaster saying that its thoughts and prayers are with the victims, and asked God to grant them comfort and full restoration in no distant time.
