The Department of State Services (DSS) has urged the public to disregard claims of its alleged unlawful invasion of the offices of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) in Abuja and Lagos.
A statement to that effect, clarified the claims describing both as inaccurate and misleading and reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism and transparency in fulfilling its responsibilities.
According to the statement, two unarmed DSS operatives were dispatched to the SERAP office in Abuja as part of a lawful, routine investigation but what was a standard procedure unfortunately became misrepresented as an unlawful raid, hence the accusations of harassment and intimidation are simply untrue.
The DSS emphasised that such official visits are common practice and do not amount to any form of illegality therefore, termed the allegation as baseless.
The DSS assured the public that a thorough investigation is already underway and called on citizens to remain involved in national security efforts, stressing that their participation is vital to a safer society.
The DSS, encouraged the citizenry to visit the its website at dss.gov.ng, email dsspr@dss.gov.ng, or call 09153391310 and 09088373515 for further enquiries.
