Overwhelmed by the level of infrastructural facilities and academic transformations, on going at Benjamin Uwajumogu (State) College of Education, Ihitte Uboma, Imo State, Prof. Florence Emenalo, the leader of the three man Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, TRCN, Abuja 3 days accreditation visitation team of the College’s Post Degree in Education, PDE programme has given thumbs up to the State Government and management of the institution for instilling conducive environment for moral and qualitative education learning within the shortest period.
Emenalo who’s also an erudite Professor of Education Management, and the Director Women and Gender Studies of Imo State University, gave the commendation while addressing Journalists at the College mini conference hall immediately after her team vigorously visited so many facilities of the College, and inspected relevant files and documents of the institution, in line with their nationally assigned duty.
She informed that the essence of the accreditation visitation programme is to ensure that the College has the necessary skills, facilities and competence to run Post Degree in Education, PDE, noting that the PDE academic programme is for people who read other courses but have interest in teaching profession so as to have the skills, knowledge and competence to qualify as a professional teacher.

Emenalo who was one time Commissioner of Education in Imo State said that the TRCN accreditation visitation is in conformity with Teaching profession’s Code of Conduct, noting that teaching is a profession, a calling and an organized work, because Teachers handles the society, hence, the global maxim, “no teacher no nation”.
According to her, “it’s pertinent to appreciate the fact that, teachers foundationally handles the children, who would become the functional contributory parts of the society tomorrow, so if you don’t give quality education to the children, definitely, the society will not be better off and for quality education to be inculcated into the children, you must have quality teachers,so the visitation is to ascertain how the PDE students of the College are being taught and with what facilities, and having gone round, accessed and investigated the quality of their Lecturers and facilities. It’s obvious, the School with her staff and management are doing marvelously well.
“Honestly, I doff my cap for the Provost, Dr. Mrs. Chinyere Chukwu and her management staff, because about two years ago, I visited the college, the school and its environment were in states of comatose, dilapidation and abandonment, but today, I can see life and a lot of transformations, developments and growth, with very conducive learning environment and committed staffs” she pointed out.
Earlier in her speech, Mrs Esther Ukachukwu, Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Education Intervention Programme,who ably represented the Governor during the occasion expressed optimism that the College has all it takes to scale through the TRCN’s accreditation, which aimed at, ensuring that the College has the quality staff and facilities to run the 12 months course for the award of the institution’s Post Degree in Education Certificate.
Ukachukwu commended Governor Uzodimma for being educationally friendly, moreso for his administration’s tremendous investments that have led to the transformation of the institution to an enviable height among her contemporaries in the nation.
She also applauded the State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof. Johncliff Nwadike and the school management led by Dr. Mrs Chinyere Chukwu for their passion, commitment and dedication in piloting the affairs of the College despite certain challenges.
The Special Adviser to Governor Uzodimma on Education Intervention Programmes further assured the Commissioner, staff and management of the College that their labour of love, will not be in vain, reassuring of the State’s commitments for quality and qualitative education.
Adding her voice, Dr. Mrs Chinyere Chukwu, the Provost of Benjamin Uwajumogu (State) College of Education, Ihitte Uboma expressed satisfaction on the thoroughness of the visitation team recalling that last March, the College hosted 14 members accreditation team of the National Commission for Colleges of Education, NCCE, Abuja for the College’s maiden accreditation in which the College and 24 of her critical Courses were given full accreditations.
Chukwu thanked God Almighty for using Governor Hope Uzodimma as a symbol of light to the College and described the Governor as a passionate ambassador and patriotic friend of the College and education in the State.
She also extended her profound gratitude to Mrs. Esther Ukachukwu, the Governor’s representative at the Programme who inadvertently is the Governor’s Special Adviser, SA on the State’s Tertiary Education Intervention Programmes as well as Prof. Johncliff Nwadike, the State Commissioner for Tertiary Education for their sacrifices in ensuring the progress and development of the College.
She reassured of her management vision and mission for wholistic repositioning of the College in conformity with International standard.
Also speaking earlier, Dr. Mrs. Mmachi Chidozie, the College Coordinator of PDE Continuing Education Programme, informed that the team of Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, TRCN, Abuja were in the College to access their facilities and capacity of their Lecturers, so as to get the required certified accreditation that would enable them in continual running of the PDE programme.
Chidozie observed that the visitation team, toured and inspected the College relevant facilities and books, informing that the PDE programme is geared towards grooming students who have no background in Education in their earlier discipline but have interest in doing teaching as a professional career.
She also lauded the College staff and management led by Dr. Mrs Chinyere Chukwu for their unity of purpose, prudence and patriotism in running the affairs of the College while expressing optimism that the College will scale through the hurdles of the accreditation, considering their facilities,skilled manpower’s and level of preparedness for the excerise.
