ECOWAS Commission Denies Appointment Of A Youth Ambassador By West African Youth Council

The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS Commission, says it neither appointed nor was it consulted for the appointment of a Youth Ambassador By the West African Youth Council.
The ECOWAS Commission was reacting to a recent published story it termed false and misleading on some national newspapers and online platforms on the appointment of an ECOWAS Youth Ambassador.
A statement signed by the Communication Directorate of the ECOWAS Commission and made available to journalists in Abuja enjoined the media and the general public to confirm any information concerning the Commission or its institutions from it before dissemination.
The ECOWAS Commission while calling on individuals and organisations to desist from using its name, logo or any form of misrepresentation without proper authorisation, enjoined members of the community to disregard any publication which directly or indirectly links it with the appointment of a Youth Ambassador By the West African Youth Council as it has nothing to do withthe appointment.
The Commission clarified that the appointment of the Youth Ambassador did not emanate from the ECOWAS Commission or any of its institutions or agencies nor did the Commission authorise such appointment as it does not have such as one of its Youth promotion and empowerment initiatives and it does not confer awards to individuals, government or corporate organisations by proxy.
