In recent times, the Armed Forces of Nigeria have rescued scores of kidnapped hostages especially the recent rescue of 16 and 137 hostages in Sokoto and Kaduna States, respectively while working with local authorities and government agencies across the country.
This coordinated approach, according to the Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, during a press briefing on the ongoing operations across the country, helped to yield needed results.
He said that ctizens are the first line of intelligence and must rise up to the issue and see it as their duty to flush out culprits from their midst.
The DMO stressed that the armed forces are  bent on sustaining the winning ways of its operational engagements as demonstrated with the rescue of the hostages which is an indication of a better understanding of the dynamics of what they are dealing with.
According to him, the success demonstrates the unwavering commitment of the armed forces to secure and protect the citizens against harm and acts of terror.
Major General Buba, who pleaded that what occurred in Delta State that led to the killing of 17 soldiers that were buried on 27 March 2024 must never be allowed to ever happen again, said, it behoves elders and community leaders to expose the wanted persons especially as the military had constructed several civic projects in Delta State as a sign of good will before the ugly incident.
He promised that troops would continue with their efforts until the culprits are found, arrested, tried, and brought to justice by the Nigerian law and reeled out some success stories in the week under review.
