DSS Reitterates Commitment To Gender Mainstreaming, Launches Policy Framework

The Department of State Services, DSS, has reitterated its commitment to promoting gender equality in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, and the National Gender Policy of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The Service, has unveiled its gender mainstreaming policy outlining a homegrown comprehensive framework for the integration of gender perspectives and inclusiveness in its policies, programmes and procedures.
The policy launching ceremony at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja was witnessed by the Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, who served as the Special Guest of Honour, the Director General of the DSS, Alhaji Yusuf Magaji Bichi, represented by the Director of Administration, Mr Kabiru Sani and other members of Management and Staff.
In his speech at the event, the Director General noted that the policy is aimed at promoting gender equality and creating a work environment free of discrimination and bias.
According to him, achieving these goals depends a lot on gender mainstreaming hence the Service is proud to launch the policy as a demonstration of their commitment to this cause.
He enjoined citizens to embrace the new policy and ensure its full implementation at every level of decision making.
The Minister of women affairs, Pauline Tallen, commended the Service and particularly the DGSS for the iniative and called on other agencies to emulate the Service.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Department of State Services, National Headquarters, Abuja, Dr Peter Afunanya, noted that the DSS is one of the leading security agencies in Nigeria promoting gender friendly policies.
