Mock Accreditation: BVAS Should Not Disappoint On Election Day

Electorates in Delta State during the just concluded mock accreditation exercise embarked upon by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC have asked the commission to ensure the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, which worked excellently during the trial accreditation does not disappoint on the election day.
At Omi Primary School Owa, Ika North East, Mr. Kennedy Asha, who was full of praises for the INEC for having accredited him in spite of having a PVC issued in 2011 and he had feared it may have become invalid owing to stories he heard earlier.
He however expressed fears about what may happen on election day if the BVAS malfunctions and implored INEC to ensure BVAS does not disappoint on election day.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State, Rev. Dr. Monday Udo Tom, assured that the BVAS would not disappoint as it does not need network to function.
He noted that the only time network is needed in the whole process is during the transmission of results and this will not be a problem as the immediate solution for network issues in that case, is to change location.
The HOD Legal Services, Barrister Angela Ebhodaghe, added her voice to assuring the populace that the BVAS has come stay and will serve to oppose every form of electoral malpractice in the country.
On her part, the Electoral Officer for Ika North East, Dr. Nkechi Enemuo, promised that INEC will continue to conduct credible elections and give the electorate opportunity to choose the leader of their choice.
Meanwhile, our correspondent observed that a lot still needs to be done in the area of sensitization as voter apathy marred the process.
