Anambra Shines Again At President’s Teachers, Schools Excellence Award

It is often said that a teacher’s reward is in heaven but that is no longer the case as the President Muhamadu Buhari led administration has kept faith with its tradition of recognizing teachers on World Teachers Day.
In the past three years, Anambra State has always shone at the event as teachers from the state often go home with most of the juicy prizes.
This year Anambra State alongside the Federal Capital Territory, went home with five different prizes each while Lagos State took home four different prizes.
Ogun, Ondo and Ekiti States on their parts, took home three prizes each.
Rivers State on the other hand, went home with two prizes whereas Plateau, Benue, Oyo, Enugu, Akwa Ibom, Gombe, Niger and Kano States had one prize each.
Winners for Anambra State include, Chukwunedu Sabina Ijeoma of Abbott Girls Secondary School, Ihiala, who became the overall winner, best administrator public school, Ugokwe Marilyn Uchenna of Susu College Nkpor became the overall winner best teacher private schools, junior secondary, Ifetike Chekwube Hope of Government Technical College Onitsha who emerged first runner up best teacher public schools Senior secondary, Onyemaechi Pius Chiedu of Federal Government Girls College Nkwelle Ezunaka emerged second runner up, Federal Unity Colleges best teacher while Nigerian Science and Technical College Nnewi got first runner up best public schools category, junior secondary.
Speaking with the ABS, the Commissioner for Education, Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, said Anambra State will continue to do its best to ensure that students get the best of training to prepare them to be at par with their contemporaries globally.
Some of the winners, Chukwunedu Sabina Ijeoma, Ugokwe Marilyn Uchenna and Ifetike Chekwube Hope thanked the state government for giving them the enabling environment to do their best while promising their students that they will not relent.
