The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, has embarked on a 4 kilometre walk to herald its Citizens Summit billed to kick off in Abuja, the nations capital tomorrow Tuesday 23rd August, 2022.
The road walk which is an awareness exercise, took off from the Unity fountain and culminated at the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA permanent Site, where the Institute sought the collaboration of the Acting Director General, Abdulhamid Dembos, in furthering the national integration message.
Addreseeing journalists after the walk, the National President of NIPR, Malam Mukhtar Sirajo, who said the walk is to herald the revival of Nigeria- to walk towards a new Nigeria that is more integrated, more cohesive where tribe, tongues or religion differ but remain one united entity, added that the summit will birth a Nigeria that will promote patriotism where ever citizens find themselves.
He said this summit will be different from other fora which had discussed many ideas that were never implemented because they have people who are trained to manage relationships whose breakdown is at the core of Nigeria’s problem.
He noted that the project is a solution driven process and a continuous one hence it is taking a holistic look at all the problems of the country.
According to him, once communication component is in place and relationships are mended, all other things will follow such as having purposeful leaders, those that connect with the masses, as well as followers that connect with the leadership among others.
For a representative of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Mr. Eddy Megwa, the NYSC is in the vanguard of galvanizing youths all over the world as they are no longer the leaders of tomorrow but the leaders of today.
He opined that it is necessary to begin exemplifying their leadership skills hence they are partnering the NIPR in the campaign for national integration
