The Federal government of Nigeria is taking bold steps to initiate various reforms that are encapsulated in the civil service strategy and implementation plans for better service delivery.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda, who gave the indication during the ministry’s commemoration of 2022 African Public Service Day, said the strategy is hinged on six distinct Pillars including capacity building, integrated payroll and information system, innovation and culture change among others.
He said, the success of any effort at improving governance at all levels depends on the civil service as any government that puts even the best policies without a high performing goals oriented civil servants to drive the processes and implementation will not achieve its developmental objectives.
Ambassador Aduda charged civil servants to go beyond becoming change agents to institutionalising change in modern governance and societal development and to encourage and exhibit values that inspire good habits in institutions and individuals.
A former Super Eagles captain, Eddy Onazi, who presented jerseys and footballs to MFA football club thanked the ministry for all its efforts towards Nigerians in the Diaspora, saying the gesture was motivated by his desires to see the ministry win at the civil service football games.
Also in his speech, Ambassador Ibrahim Zaina, personal recognition motivates a worker to work harder in whatever he is assigned.
The African Public Service Day Celebration by the foreign affairs ministry was an opportunity to recognise some outstanding staff of the ministry for their efficient service delivery.
