The Federal Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation, says it will collaborate with the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, to ensure that rules and regulations of civil service are implemented for the desired development of the country.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Monilola Udoh, stated this in Abuja when the officials of the Agency on development of ethics and compliance scorecard and Anti- Corruption, and Transparency Unit (ACTU) effectiveness index in Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies paid her a courtesy visit in her office.
Mrs. Udoh, noted, that the civil service is the engine room of government which drives the policies and activities of government for the socio-economic and progress of the citizens.
According to her, it behoves all civil servants and Nigeria to maintain high integrity and shun corruption as it is inimical to the nation’s economic growth.
The Permanent Secretary, called for more staff welfare and motivation to encourage the civil servants for prompt service delivery.
Earlier, the Assistant Commissioner of ICPC Mr. Dio Emmanuel had disclosed that the essence of the visit was to check the integrity of the ministry and to score her in line with the rules of the Agency.
He further stated that the ministry’s score in the past was high, explaining that the ministry has substantial compliance but ICPC has not come to the ministry for system study and review hence the visit.
According to him, ACTU is institutionalised in organisations to ensure consistent study and enlightening of staff with their Ministries, Department and Agencies.
