Nigeria’s National Grid Stabilised After Multiple Trippings – NISO

Electricity consumers faced another disruption on Monday after multiple trippings on Nigeria’s 330kV transmission network. Still, the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) says the grid has been stabilised and normal operations restored.

The incident occurred at about 12:40 p.m. on 19 October 2026, prompting NISO and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to implement corrective measures.

In a statement, NISO said it had completed restoration efforts, clarifying that the incident affected only a section of the national grid, contrary to unverified reports circulating in the media.

The operator urged Nigerians to disregard misleading information and rely on its official communication channels for verified updates.

NISO reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining grid stability and ensuring reliable operation of the national electricity transmission system.
