Military Rescues 22 Kidnap Victims, Arrests Terrorist Collaborators Across Nigeria
The Nigerian military has stepped up offensive operations nationwide, rescuing dozens of abducted persons and arresting terrorists, kidnappers and their collaborators between 11 and 17 September 2026.
In Niger State, troops of Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD rescued 22 kidnap victims after forcing terrorists to abandon them during an encounter in Muchiya Village, Rafi Local Government Area. Troops also defused 12 IEDs planted along major routes in Niger and Kwara States.
In the North-East, Operation HADIN KAI troops rescued 14 abductees in Borno, including the Chief Imam of Ngoshe, who had been in captivity since March. Six suspected members of a kidnap syndicate were also arrested in Adamawa.
Across the North-West, troops rescued several victims in Katsina, Kaduna and Sokoto.
At the same time, operations in the South-East led to the arrest of a suspected IED fabrication expert and the dismantling of an illegal crude oil bunkering site in Imo State.
The Defence Headquarters said the operations would continue as the Armed Forces work to disrupt terrorist networks, rescue victims and narrow the operating space of criminal elements nationwide.
