Zone 7 Audit: DIG Isyaku Tasks FCT Police On Professionalism, Community Policing
A renewed emphasis on accountability and community partnership is shaping policing reforms in the Federal Capital Territory as the Nigeria Police intensifies operational oversight across Zone 7.
The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Training and Development, DIG Isyaku Mohammed, has urged officers of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command to uphold discipline, professionalism and community-centred policing during an operational assessment of the Command.
Leading the Zone 7 operational audit on Friday, DIG Isyaku said the inspection, directed by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, is aimed at evaluating security strategies, identifying operational gaps and recommending reforms to improve policing across the zone.
Welcoming the delegation, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to the IGP’s policing vision, highlighting recent operational successes and ongoing collaboration with communities.
The DIG stressed that respect for the rule of law, accountability and quality service delivery must remain the hallmark of policing, urging officers to consistently implement the IGP’s directives in line with global best practices.
Community representatives commended the operational tour, describing it as a confidence-building initiative that strengthens cooperation between the police and residents.
The visit concluded with an interactive session on security challenges and practical measures to improve patrols, intelligence gathering and community engagement.
