The renewed wave of violence in Plateau State has prompted a swift security response, with the Nigeria Police Force moving to strengthen operations and reassure affected communities.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has deployed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 4, AIG Dankombo F. Morris, to Plateau State for an operational assessment following recent deadly attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area.

During a visit to Kawel Community in Mushere District, AIG Morris met with community leaders, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to assess the security situation and reinforce efforts to restore peace.

He conveyed the condolences of the Inspector-General and the Force Management Team to families affected by the attacks, assuring residents that those responsible would be brought to justice.

The AIG disclosed that additional police personnel and security assets have been deployed to Bokkos on the directive of the Inspector-General to boost security operations, increase police presence and prevent further violence.

He also urged residents to remain peaceful and avoid reprisals that could undermine ongoing efforts to restore normalcy.

As part of the visit, AIG Morris paid courtesy calls on Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, and the Gbong Gwom Jos, His Royal Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to working with the state government, traditional institutions and other security agencies to strengthen peace and protect lives across Plateau State.
