Domestic Violence Suspect Remanded Over Viral Assault Case
A viral video exposing an alleged case of domestic violence has led to the arrest and remand of a suspect by the Lagos State Police Command, reinforcing authorities’ commitment to tackling abuse.
Police said Emeka Joseph was arrested after he was accused of assaulting Ezeka Chisom, a woman with whom he had been cohabiting. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim sustained facial injuries during the attack.
The Command confirmed that the suspect has been charged to court and remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Centre. The matter has been adjourned until 3 August 2026.
Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on domestic violence, assuring residents that all cases involving abuse and violence would continue to receive prompt attention.
He also urged members of the public to report incidents of domestic violence and other crimes to the nearest police station.
