Effective policing and a strong justice system thrive on collaboration, a principle reinforced on Tuesday as the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, received the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

During the courtesy visit led by NBA President, Mazi Afam Osigwe (SAN), the IGP reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to advancing criminal justice reforms, promoting professionalism, and strengthening partnerships with key stakeholders in the justice sector.

Disu stressed the importance of constitutional policing, respect for fundamental rights and adherence to due process, noting that sustained engagement between the Police and the legal profession is critical to improving accountability, protecting citizens’ rights and enhancing access to justice.

The NBA President commended the Police leadership for ongoing efforts to improve professionalism and accountability within the Force and pledged the Association’s support for initiatives that promote justice and the rule of law. He also invited the Nigeria Police Force to participate in the forthcoming NBA Annual General Conference.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both institutions to strengthening Nigeria’s criminal justice system, improving public confidence and ensuring policing aligns with global best practices.
