Troops Kill Suspected Bandits, Recover Rustled Livestock In Kaduna Operations
Sustained military operations against banditry in Kaduna State have yielded fresh successes, with troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA neutralising suspected criminals, recovering rustled livestock and restoring order in troubled communities.
The Joint Task Force North West said troops acting on intelligence on 20 June engaged cattle rustlers in a gun battle, killing two suspected bandits and recovering weapons, ammunition and stolen livestock.
The operation disrupted the criminal activity and enabled the recovery of the animals, although one civilian was reportedly killed during the incident.
In a separate operation the same day, soldiers intercepted two suspected bandits during a night patrol. Security sources said digital materials recovered from the suspects linked them to terrorist and bandit networks.
They are currently in custody and undergoing investigation.
Troops also arrested two suspected bandit scouts during a fighting patrol on 21 June after armed criminals fled into nearby bushes under military pressure.
Motorcycles and communication devices containing incriminating evidence were recovered from the suspects.
Meanwhile, troops swiftly restored calm in Mararraba community following a violent disturbance triggered by the mob killing of a woman accused of child trafficking.
The crowd had attempted to attack public facilities and block a major highway before security forces intervened, dispersing the mob and securing critical infrastructure.
The Theatre Commander commended the troops for their vigilance and professionalism, assuring residents that intelligence-led operations would continue to target terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements across the North-West.
