Police Rescue 97 Kidnap Victims, Arrest Suspects Across 10 States
The latest police operations show that kidnappers and other criminal gangs are facing sustained pressure, with 97 abducted persons rescued and several suspects arrested across 10 states and the FCT
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, police and other security operatives rescued 75 abducted persons in Kaduna, 13 kidnapped bus passengers in Benue and two victims in the FCT.
The operations also led to the arrest of suspected drug dealers in Enugu and Anambra, three suspected armed robbers in Taraba, eight suspects in Rivers and a murder suspect in Oyo.
In Kogi, security operatives demolished an abandoned settlement reportedly used by bandits to hold abducted farmers during a forest clearance operation along the Kabba-Bunu-Obajana-Lokoja axis.
Meanwhile, seven passengers were rescued after a boat mishap on the Goronyo River in Sokoto, although search efforts were still ongoing for those reported missing.
The police said investigations into the various incidents are continuing across the affected states.
