DSS, Army Bust ESN Armouries In Enugu, Recover Rocket Launcher, AK-47 Rifles
In a major breakthrough against violent criminal networks in the South-East, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Army have uncovered and raided suspected Eastern Security Network (ESN) armouries in Enugu State, recovering a large cache of weapons and ammunition.
The intelligence-led operations, carried out in Garki and Agbani areas of Enugu, yielded a rocket launcher, rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) warheads, 11 AK-47 rifles, magazines, grenades and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
Security sources said the raids were launched following credible intelligence that members of the outlawed group were planning attacks in parts of the South-East.
Investigators also recovered NYSC uniforms and accessories, including trousers, T-shirts and lanyards, raising concerns over their intended use.
The operations followed the recent arrest of suspected members of the group in the state, with security agencies intensifying efforts to dismantle arms supply networks and prevent future attacks.
Authorities said investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the network and uncover the full extent of the group’s activities.
