Army Arrests Six Suspected Vandals, Recovers Stolen Transformer In Sokoto
In a renewed push to protect critical infrastructure, troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested six suspected vandals and recovered a stolen electric transformer during an operation in the Tsamaye general area of Sokoto State.
The operation, carried out following credible intelligence, targeted individuals allegedly involved in the theft and vandalism of public utility installations within communities in the area.
Military sources said the troops acted swiftly on the intelligence, leading to the arrest of the six suspects and the recovery of an electric transformer believed to have been stolen from a nearby community.
The suspects are currently in military custody and are being interrogated to determine the extent of their involvement and uncover other members of the vandalism network.
Security authorities noted that the recovery of the transformer is expected to bring relief to residents affected by power disruptions caused by attacks on electricity infrastructure.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing efforts against vandalism and other criminal activities.
