NWFL Restores Ekiti Queens’ Home Ground, Reopens Ibom Angels Stadium To Fans
In a move that reinforces discipline and gradual progress in Nigeria’s women’s football, the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has lifted key sanctions on Ekiti Queens and Ibom Angels, signalling renewed confidence in both clubs’ compliance with league standards.
Ekiti Queens have been cleared to return to their home ground in Ado-Ekiti after serving a venue sanction imposed over breaches in matchday organisation and security protocols.
The club had temporarily relocated their home fixtures to Abeokuta but will now resume hosting matches in front of their fans from Matchday 12 of the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership season.
Their homecoming will be officially celebrated on Matchday 15, when they face regional rivals, Pacesetter Queens, in what promises to be a spirited Southwest derby.
In a related development, the NWFL has also lifted the spectator ban on Ibom Angels’ home matches in Uyo.
The restriction, earlier imposed due to crowd control issues and violations of matchday conduct, had forced the team to play behind closed doors.
Following a thorough review of the club’s improved security arrangements and operational standards, the league has approved the return of fans, beginning with their Matchday 12 clash against Adamawa Queens on Wednesday.
The NWFL commended both clubs for meeting the required standards, reiterating its commitment to professionalism, safety, and integrity across all venues.
