FCC, Nigeria Revenue Service Seal Reform Pact To Tighten Transparency
In a system where agencies often work in silos, real reform begins when institutions start talking, and acting, together.
That shift was on display in Abuja as the Federal Character Commission (FCC) and the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) moved to deepen collaboration aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability and constitutional compliance across Nigeria’s public sector.
Receiving the Executive Chairman of the NRS, Zacch Adedeji, at the FCC headquarters, FCC boss Hulayat Ayo Omidiran said closer inter-agency alignment is critical to restoring institutional credibility.
She stressed that the FCC’s constitutional role in overseeing equitable representation across more than 700 Ministries, Departments and Agencies is central to national cohesion, and must be backed by stronger data governance and regulatory coordination.
Omidiran warned that the Federal Character principle is not a token gesture but a foundation for balanced governance and unity, arguing that structured collaboration with fiscal authorities will sharpen compliance and support evidence-based public administration.
On his part, Adedeji said sustainable revenue mobilisation cannot be separated from strong governance frameworks, noting that transparency, accountability and institutional integrity are essential for macroeconomic stability and inclusive growth.
With both agencies signalling a more coordinated approach, the partnership raises expectations of tighter oversight, better data sharing and reforms that move beyond paperwork into measurable public-sector accountability.
