Nigeria’s PR Body Clinches Global Honour, Puts Country On Reputation Leadership Map

Nigeria’s reputation on the global communication stage just got a major boost as the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) clinched the Global Public Relations Association of the Year award at the World Public Relations and Communication Awards 2025.

The honour was announced in Lisbon, Portugal, on 19 February 2026, after a keenly contested process that drew 89 entries from 19 countries, underscoring the scale of the competition NIPR triumphed over.

Organised by the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, the award recognises NIPR’s leadership in professional regulation, ethical standards enforcement, reputation governance, strategic communication advocacy, and its reform agenda that has repositioned public relations as a driver of national development.

Reacting to the global recognition, the Acting President of NIPR, Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura, described the award as “a defining global endorsement of Nigerian professionalism and excellence in public relations.”

“This is not just a trophy. It is evidence that disciplined reform and institutional courage yield results. Nigeria is no longer observing global reputation conversations from the sidelines; we are influencing them,” he said.

Prof. Dandaura also commended the NIPR President, Dr Ike Neliaku, for his “purposeful and visionary leadership,” which he said has strengthened the Institute’s national relevance and international visibility.

In a related win, Chain Reactions, a member-agency of NIPR, emerged as the winner in the Internal Communication Campaign category with its entry titled ‘Next Era of Happiness: Managing Change and Employee’.

The Acting President further acknowledged the role of past leaders, current Council members, and young professionals across Nigeria in sustaining reforms and shaping the future of strategic communication in the country.

The Global Alliance Awards celebrate excellence in public relations and communication worldwide, recognising innovation, impact, ethics, and professional advancement.

The formal presentation of the trophies is scheduled for the Global Alliance World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) 2026, to be held in Abuja, Nigeria, from 15-21 November 2026.
