PVC Rush Signals High-Stakes FCT Polls As INEC Reports 94.4% Collection Rate
With election day looming, the scramble for Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) across Abuja is sending a clear message: residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are ready to have their say at the polls.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says over 1.5 million voters have collected their PVCs ahead of Saturday’s Area Council elections, recording one of the strongest pre-election turnouts in recent FCT polls.
As of 10 February 2026, INEC confirmed that 1,587,025 PVCs had been collected out of 1,680,315 registered voters in the FCT, an impressive 94.4 per cent collection rate. Only 93,290 PVCs remain uncollected.
A breakdown across the six Area Councils shows robust participation: Abaji recorded a 95.0 per cent collection rate; Bwari 93.5 per cent; Gwagwalada 94.3 per cent; Kuje led with 97.2 per cent; Kwali 93.1 per cent; while the Municipal Area Council posted 94.5 per cent.
Several Registration Areas reportedly crossed the 99 per cent mark, reflecting strong grassroots mobilisation.
INEC commended FCT voters for their responsiveness and cooperation during the Continuous Voter Registration and PVC collection exercise, describing the figures as a sign of readiness to participate in the democratic process.
The Commission also reminded residents that only registered voters with valid PVCs will be allowed to vote on election day, assuring that all arrangements are in place for a free, fair and credible poll.
With PVCs largely in voters’ hands, attention now shifts to turnout on Saturday, the true test of Abuja’s democratic pulse.
