FG Honours Retired Health Workers, Pledges Ongoing Support
The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has celebrated sixteen retired staff of its Department of Hospital Services (DHS), commending their decades of service to Nigeria’s health sector.
At a ceremony held in Abuja, the Coordinating Minister, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, praised the retirees for their excellence and dedication, noting that their contributions had left “a lasting legacy of impact” in healthcare delivery.
Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, assured the retirees of continued welfare support under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, stressing that their wisdom and experience remain invaluable to the ministry.
Permanent Secretary, Daju Kachollom mni, described the event as historic—the first retirement ceremony organised by the DHS.
She lauded Director of Hospital Services, Dr. Salaudeen Jimoh mni, for initiating the programme and commended the honourees for their sacrifice and professionalism.
Dr. Jimoh, in his remarks, said the retirees had helped shape policies, strengthen hospital systems, and mentor younger professionals. “True service transcends official tenure,” he noted.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to advancing universal health coverage while ensuring that the legacies of its retirees continue to guide ongoing reforms.
