ECOWAS, Guinea-Bissau Push For Disability Inclusion With Assistive Device Rollout
In a major boost for disability rights in West Africa, the ECOWAS Commission, in partnership with the Government of Guinea-Bissau, has launched the second phase of its regional assistive device programme for children with disabilities.
The initiative, aligned with ECOWAS Vision 2050 and the 4×4 Strategic Objectives, aims to ensure no child is left behind by providing life-changing support to children living with disabilities across the region.
At a high-level meeting in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau’s Minister of Women, Family and Social Solidarity, H.E. Maria Inácia Có Mendes Sanhá, reaffirmed her government’s unwavering commitment to disability inclusion.
The ECOWAS delegation echoed this sentiment, stressing the organisation’s dedication to building an inclusive, people-centred regional community.
Preceded by field visits and technical consultations, the programme is designed to be locally relevant, nationally owned, and sustainable in the long run a step forward in delivering social justice and transforming lives.
