NAF Graduates 30 Helicopter Pilots, CAS Urges Integrity and Excellence
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, has urged 30 newly graduated helicopter pilots of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to uphold integrity, remain committed, and embrace lifelong learning in service to the nation.
Speaking through the Chief of Training and Operations, Air Vice Marshal Edosa, the CAS gave the charge during a colourful graduation ceremony held at the International Helicopter Flying School (IHFS) in Enugu on 30 July.
The event marked the completion of the Integrated Helicopter Pilot Course 9/2024 and the Airline Transport Pilot Licence Course 2/2025.
“You are stepping into a complex operational environment,” he said. “The threats we face are ever-evolving. Your ability to adapt, work as a team, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism will define your success.”
The ceremony also saw the commissioning of a newly renovated aircraft hangar—part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades aimed at transforming IHFS into a global hub for helicopter training.
Other projects include a new school headquarters and 36 student accommodation units.
Flight instructors who completed their Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) training were also honoured, alongside those promoted for excellence in service. The CAS praised IHFS for its growing instructional capacity, describing it as central to his vision for a mission-ready, self-reliant air force.
He commended the school’s Rector, instructors, and technical partners for their commitment to excellence, adding that the graduation was more than a celebration—it was a reaffirmation of the Air Force’s evolving strategic role in national security.
