Anambra Declares July 18 Work-Free To Boost Voter Registration

In a move to deepen civic engagement and boost voter participation, the Anambra State Government has declared Friday, 18th July 2025, as a work-free day for all civil and public servants across the state.

The announcement, made through a circular from the Office of the Head of Service, and signed by Dame Theodora Okwy Igwegbe, follows the approval of Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo. The decision aims to enable eligible workers to travel to their local communities to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

The circular highlights government’s recognition of the importance of active civic participation and urges all eligible citizens to seize the opportunity to either register afresh, update their details, or transfer their voter information as needed.

Heads of commissions, departments, and tertiary institutions have been tasked with ensuring strict compliance and encouraging their staff to make the most of the work-free day.
