With a place at the 2028 Olympic Games at stake, Nigeria and DR Congo will begin their qualifying campaign under the watch of an all-Ugandan refereeing team appointed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

CAF has named Ugandan referee Duula Joshua to officiate the first-leg encounter between the two nations, with three compatriots completing the on-field officiating team.

Brianson Musisi and Katerega Ashiraf have been appointed first and second assistant referees respectively, while William Oloya will serve as the fourth official.

The other appointments include Jean Marie Koyakobo of the Central African Republic as match commissioner, while fellow Central African Republic official Letokouzou will serve as referee assessor.

The appointments come as both countries prepare for a high-stakes contest in their quest to secure a place at the 2028 Olympic football tournament.

For Nigeria, the tie represents another important step towards returning to the Olympic football stage, with the team needing a strong first-leg performance to strengthen its chances ahead of the return fixture.

The Ugandan officials will be responsible for ensuring fair play and maintaining control of the encounter as the Olympic qualifying race gathers momentum.
