Troops Repel Bandits In Zamfara, Recover 73 Rustled Animals
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recovered 73 livestock, including 14 camels, 19 cattle and 40 sheep, after repelling an attack by armed bandits in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The recovery followed a military operation on Thursday, 8 October 2026, after troops received intelligence about the movement of armed terrorists between Kombo and Gurus villages.
According to the military, troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, responded to the intelligence and engaged the armed group on arrival at the area.
The encounter forced the attackers to flee, abandoning the livestock suspected to have been rustled from nearby communities.
The recovered animals are currently in military custody and will be handed over to their rightful owners after verification, the military said.
The operation forms part of ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-banditry efforts in Zamfara State, where armed groups have continued to pose security challenges to rural communities.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting vulnerable communities, disrupting criminal activities and supporting efforts to restore peace and security across the state.
