Troops Rescue 14 Kidnap Victims, Recover AK-47 In Katsina
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 14 kidnapped victims and recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and a motorcycle during operations in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The victims, 12 males and two females, were rescued on Friday, September 25, after troops engaged suspected terrorists during a clearance operation along the Faskari axis.
According to the operational account, the troops, who were on routine patrol, intercepted the suspects and engaged them, forcing them to flee into the surrounding terrain.
A subsequent clearance operation led to the rescue of the 14 victims, who were reportedly abducted from Anguwan Miko and Tafoki communities in Faskari LGA.
The rescued victims have received medical attention, while arrangements are being made for their reunification with their families.
In a related operation, troops also foiled an attempted attack by suspected terrorists in the area.
They recovered an AK-47 rifle, quantities of 7.62mm special ammunition and a motorcycle allegedly used by the fleeing suspects.
The operation is part of sustained efforts by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist and kidnapping networks, recover weapons and deny criminal elements freedom of action across Katsina State.
