Police Arrest 15 Suspects, Recover Ammunition, Weapons In Nationwide Operations
Police operations across 10 states have led to the arrest of at least 15 suspects, including alleged gun runners, murder suspects and armed robbery suspects, with hundreds of rounds of ammunition and several weapons recovered.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in the State-by-State Executive Summary of police operational successes for September 24, 2026.
In Kaduna, police detectives arrested two suspected gun runners allegedly heading to a bandits’ camp and recovered 300 live rounds of ammunition.
Two other suspected armed robbers were also arrested in the state in connection with an incident along the Zaria-Kano Expressway, with a bow and arrow recovered.
In Benue, operatives arrested a suspected gun runner during patrol and stop-and-search operations and recovered 45 rounds of live ammunition.
Delta State recorded two separate operations. Police arrested a suspected murder suspect and recovered four cutlasses and a shovel from his apartment, while four suspects were arrested following a clash between rival cult groups during the Eku Festival.
A locally made cut-to-size firearm and a vehicle were recovered.
In Adamawa, four suspects were arrested in connection with the death of a victim following an alleged assault.
Other operations recorded the recovery of ammunition and weapons in Bayelsa, the recovery of an abandoned vehicle linked to an abduction case in Kogi, and the rescue and evacuation of an injured victim in Bauchi.
In Anambra, police recovered a six-month-old abandoned female infant at Ire Village, Abba, and placed her in safe custody pending transfer to the appropriate government agency.
Police in Lagos also recovered a stolen tricycle and returned it to its verified owner, while operatives in Iju-Ishaga responded to a residential fire with firefighters, preventing casualties.
The Force said investigations into the various cases are ongoing at the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments.
