CAF Steps Up Preparations For 2027 AFCON In East Africa
The countdown to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations is gathering pace, with CAF intensifying inspections across Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania to ensure the three East African hosts are ready for the continent’s biggest football spectacle.
A high-level delegation from the Confederation of African Football has completed an eight-day inspection of key facilities in the three countries, assessing critical areas including competition venues, safety and security, transport, media, television, marketing and logistics.
CAF officials worked with representatives of the host governments and Local Organising Committees as preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda 2027 enter a decisive stage.
The tournament, which will be jointly hosted under the PAMOJA banner, is scheduled for 19 June to 17 July 2027.
The championship will also mark a significant return: AFCON is heading back to East Africa for the first time in more than five decades.
For the three hosts, the latest inspection is more than a routine assessment.
It is a test of whether infrastructure, coordination and tournament operations can match the scale of an event expected to draw football fans from across Africa and beyond.
